The Bachelor of Arts degree program with a major in Social Work (BASW) offers generalist
preparation for professional entry-level positions in a variety of social service

expectation and career goals include working with special populations and social problems
such as child abuse, aging, mental health, probation and parole, adoptions, foster
care, community services, school social work, medical social work, residential facility
care, corrections, hospices, hospital and other public and private human service agencies

The goals of the BASW Program are to:

in North Central Louisiana; and
- Prepare students to meet the social service needs of the African-American community.
The objectives of the program stipulates that students will:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the biological, psychological and social structural components
of human beings in their functional capacity as individuals, families, groups, organizations

- Trace the evolution of social welfare as an institution while evaluating the social,
economic and political milieu which determines policies programs and services;

- Demonstrate knowledge of how research and statistics may be used to guide one as consumer
and as foundation for a beginning examination of practice;

The Mission of the MSW Program is consistent with the University’s and School’s commitment

rural residents in North Central Louisiana. By pursuing these learning environments,
the MSW Program fulfills its mission to provide a sound, professional education which
will prepare students for competent, autonomous practice with diverse groups at all

Advance Supervision Certificate Program
The Louisiana Board of Regents recently approved an 18-hour post-baccalaureate certificate
program in Advanced Supervision in the 社会工作学院 at Grambling State University.
The program provides a theoretical understanding of supervision and leadership and
provides the knowledge and skills required to develop a supportive organizational
structure and an environment that values diversity and inclusion to enrich service
